Visitors to the Spanish Armada centre will get to view replica and original artefacts relating to the Armada and will be guided through a series of interpretive panels which explain the story of the Spanish Armada and in particular its close links with Sligo.
Three Spanish Armada ships were wrecked at Streedagh Beach near Grange in 1588. This beach lies just 2km from the visitor centre and you are encouraged to visit the Armada monument and to take in the De Cuéllar Trail, which follows the path taken by a shipwrecked Spanish Armada captain Francisco de Cuéllar, who described the events of 1588 in detail.
