The Spanish Armada Visitor Centre in Grange, Co. Sligo, will reopen every weekend from Saturday 19th April 2025 between the hours of 2-6pm. The centre will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday for the remainder of the Summer and into the Autumn as well as every Bank Holiday Monday. Cost of entry is €5 per adult and children (U16) are granted free access to the centre, which is home to the story of the Spanish Armada in Sligo. In September 1588 three Armada ships sank at nearby Streedagh Beach and the Visitor Centre provides extensive information on the tragedy as well as displaying replica and original artefacts that pertain to the shipwrecks. In addition, a docudrama – Armada 1588 : Shipwreck & Survival – is screened as part of the visitor experience. In total, approximately 45 minutes is recommended per visit, and, if time allows, we also suggest you visit the Armada monument at Streedagh Beach afterwards.
The annual Remembering the Armada commemoration will take place in Sligo, Grange, Streedagh, Strandhill and Killybegs on 18-21 September 2025. Details of the programme to be published at www.SpanishArmadaIreland.com.
